Firearms

  It shall be the primary responsibility of this unit to train all officers in the use and safe handling of all department and personal firearms as specified by the New Jersey State Attorney General Guidelines. It shall be the responsibility of the Unit Coordinator or his designee to schedule semi-annual training/qualifications in all departmental and off duty firearms. The results of that training will be reported to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office as required. The unit coordinator shall be responsible for overseeing the maintenance of all department long guns. The coordinator or his designee shall make periodic inspections of all department firearms to ensure their safe operation and condition. Further duties of this unit include maintaining the proper supplies necessary for the unit’s efficient operation.
